Under the Bridge Episodes Review

Episode 1: ‘Looking Glass

The first episode of ‘Under the Bridge’ on Hulu shows us the complicated relationships and past hurts in Victoria, a small town. The main character is Becca Godfrey, played by Riley Keough. She comes back to where she grew up, even though it’s hard for her because of bad memories. Becca wants to write a book about girls from a foster home called Seven Oaks who are often ignored. When she learns about a girl named Reena who has disappeared, she starts to investigate.

The show tells the story of Reena’s disappearance, moving between the past and now. Vritika Gupta plays the character of Reena Virk. There’s a big cultural conflict because Reena’s family doesn’t celebrate birthdays, which they think is wrong. Reena tries to fit in at Seven Oaks, but it goes badly when Jo, a leader there, embarrasses her in front of everyone at a secret birthday party.

Feeling hurt and alone, Reena steals Jo’s secret book and starts spreading harmful rumors. Jo gets back at her by setting up a trap with a gang called the Crip Mafia Cartel at a party Reena wasn’t allowed to go to. They attack her cruelly under a bridge, where Jo burns her with a cigarette and a group called the Shoreline Six beats her up and sets her hair on fire. This leaves Reena with deep physical and emotional wounds.

Episode 2: ‘The John Gotti of Seven Oaks’

In ‘Under the Bridge’ second episode, we learn more about Detective Bentland’s past. She has a deep and personal history with the town of Seven Oaks, not just as a detective but also from her childhood, which she shares with Godfrey. Lily Gladstone plays Bentland, showing her tough and soft sides. Her acting makes Bentland a very interesting character, reminding us of Gladstone’s role in ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’.

The show also looks closely at Reena’s family life, which is full of hidden problems and secrets. The story gets more complicated, and it seems like the secrets of Reena’s family are important to figuring out what happened to her. By the end of the episode, it’s clear that everyone has secrets, making the audience wonder what’s true.

The episode does a great job of mixing personal stories with the big mystery, keeping viewers hooked and wanting to find out the real story of Seven Oaks.

The episodes of ‘Under the Bridge’ show the series’ focus on the tough parts of life and how society can push people towards sad events. The show gives a very clear picture of the people and places in it, making the audience feel like they’re part of the story. It makes viewers think about how harmful bullying is, why it’s important to understand others’ feelings, and how hard it can be to find fairness when innocent people can quickly get hurt.
